2019 Market a Big Success
Thanks to all who made the 2019 Market so fun and profitable. Our parishioners once again transformed our Parish Hall and Education wing into a community center of connection, shopping and financial support of two important community organizations - Family Promise of Greater Savannah, founded to alleviate homelessness among families with children by providing emergency shelter, meals, and support, and HUGS, a counseling service serving those who don't otherwise have access to good mental health services.
The market is a wonderful example of the energy, gifts, talents and generosity of this church community and one of the many reasons I'm so proud to be our rector. Thanks to the women and men who pulled it off once again! -- Hunt+
When the Market closed last year on February 14, a record number of shoppers -- 853 to be exact, along with the number of plants and bags that were taken home and shoppers saying this was the "best Market ever," are encouraging signs of success! Our 21 years of fundraising achievements for Savannah's most vulnerable children and families has been possible because of the love, generosity and hard work of you, our parishioners. If you ever tubed a flyer, helped in the kitchen, put up and took down walls, helped the vendors, shopped, housed vendors, volunteered, gave so generously as a sponsor, we thank each of you!!! Our vendors' comments recognized the love and hospitality of a community they found unusual.
The Market exemplifies St. Peter's commitment to the admonition found in James 1:22, "and be ye doers of the word and not hearers only."
In gratitude, Wyndie Eberle and Beth Holmquist Co-Chairs

The Market, a boutique trunk show and plant sale, features carefully selected vendors from across the country offering unique merchandise, including personal apparel for the whole family and fabulous items for home and garden. 2019 Market profits were shared between two programs whose mission is to improve the health and well-being of children and families in Savannah, Family Promise of Greater Savannah and Heads-Up Guidance Services (HUGS).
This year, St. Peter's marks its 21st year of sustained commitment to charities focused on children at risk in Savannah, and over $1,000,000 has been raised to support that effort!
From the beginning of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in 1995, outreach has been central to the church’s mission. In 1996, the Rector urged The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) “to serve the wider community beyond our doors and build fellowship with the congregation.” The ECW voted that the fundraising should support charities that benefit at-risk children in Savannah.
A Thank you and update from one Recipient of this year's market Funds
Heads-Up Guidance Services (HUGS) is pleased to report that the funds received from St. Peter's Market grant are being put to good use. We have recorded a significant increase in services to at-risk youth in the third quarter of this year:
On Site Services - 26 youth are currently being served (64 sessions provided in the 3rd quarter)
Off-Site Services - 78 sessions provided to youth at our partner locations.
We are getting prepared for an even greater increase as school begins and referrals from counselors are made. In early August we are scheduled to speak to a large group of school social workers & counselors about our services.
All of us at HUGS want everyone at St Peter's to know what a huge impact The Market grant is making in our community! On behalf our clients, our staff and our board of directors, Thank You!
